Meet the Board: Rebecca Levens

This is the latest post in our “Meet the Board” series. Each Monday, we’ll feature one of our 2017-18 board members, not stopping until we run out of board members (in late January).

Rebecca Levens, MS, RD, CD
Nominations Committee Co-Chair

I am currently a Clinical Pediatric Dietitian at Seattle Children’s Hospital. My specialties are Nephrology, Adolescent Medicine and Medical Eating Disorders. I have really enjoyed partnering with adolescents and their families to make lifestyles changes and help individuals develop a positive relationship with food. Here is more about me:

Favorite food: It’s so hard to pick just one! I do love a croissant with a latte, especially the croissants as Sea Wolf Bakery in Wallingford. If you have not been there, I highly recommend it! In addition to buttery croissants, they also make an assortment of breads and are known for their sourdough, which are amazing! I also really enjoy grilled cheese and tomato soup. A classic that is always satisfying. And my favorite sweet is anything the involved chocolate…Theo chocolate, The Cookie or ice cream.

Favorite physical activities: Running, yoga, and hiking are my go to activities. Running and yoga regularly help to keep me centered. Running allows me to push myself and see what my body is capable of. In fact, I am currently training for my first marathon! Yoga always helps me to de-stress and find balance, especially after all those miles running. Hiking allows me to opportunity to escape the city and enjoy the beauty of nature. Plus, the feeling of making it to the top of a mountain is so rewarding.

Dream travel destination: Europe, specifically Paris. I hope to have the opportunity to travel more in the future, and when I get to, I would really like to experience Europe. Paris is at the top of my list for the culture and, of course the food! Definitely need to experience the croissants there ☺

Favorite hobbies: I love cooking and sharing meals with loved ones. I also enjoy reading and always have at least one book going. I love spending time with my friend’s cats, and hope to get one of my own soon!

Something most people don’t know about me: As a born and raised Seattleite, I am a dedicated Seattle sports fan. I regularly follow the Mariners and Seahawks as well as several of the University of Washington teams. I even enjoy listening to sports radio on runs or in the car.
