About the Greater Seattle Dietetic Association
Our association strives to provide relevant and interesting information and opportunities for professional and personal growth. Following is a list and brief description of the services we currently offer our members.
- Newsletter
You can look forward to receiving at least three informative and fun to read newsletters each year. Our newsletters are a way for you to get to know who works on the GSDA board, learn of upcoming CE, networking, and volunteer events, and the newsletters provide information about legislation concerning our profession. The newsletter is sent out electronically and archives can be viewed in the Members Only section.
- Continuing Education Opportunities
GSDA hosts a Fall and Spring conference annually, plus other events that are approved for CEU credits throughout the year. For more information on current events, visit the Calendar page.
- Listserv
Our listserv is private; we do not sell or distribute our members contact information to anyone. The listserv is a great place to hear about job openings, GSDA sponsored events, conferences, and a place to bounce nutrition questions or dilemmas around amongst colleagues. To join, send an email to: GreaterSeattleDA-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. Once your membership is confirmed, you will be added to the list.
- Volunteer Program
Our volunteer program consists of coordinated events that our members can participate in. Last year members walked in the Heart Walk, Diabetes Walk, and the Seattle Marathon. Additionally, members cooked a meal at Ronald McDonald House and participated in a build day with Habitat for Humanity. All of the events were fun and provided an excellent opportunity for dietitians to get recognized in the community and to network. Events are advertised via our newsletter and the listserv. For more information, please see the Dietitians in Action page. To be added to the volunteer list, contact the Membership Chair.
- Mentor Program
This program will be of service to new dietitians, RD's that are new to the area, and long-timers that might be interested in learning a new aspect of the field. Mentoring can be rewarding for both parties and is a great way to give back to your profession. Mentors and mentees will define their own relationship. The mentorship can consist of as little or as much interaction as each person is willing to invest. GSDA is partnering with WSDA to provide mentorship to local RDs and students. If you are interested in participating, please sign-up through WSDA when you register or by contacting wsdamentoring@gmail.com.
- Referral List
Do you want to receive referrals? Perhaps grow a private practice? Do you need low cost marketing opportunities? The referral list can help you acquire clients. It will be a great, free way for you to advertise your specialty and practice to other dietitians and the public. It also serves as a great resource for those of us who need to refer clients on for more assistance. This is a free service for our members so there is no additional cost to be added to the referral list. The list is available for viewing by the public.
