About the Greater Seattle Dietetic Association
Our association strives to provide relevant and interesting information and opportunities for professional and personal growth. Following is a list and brief description of the services we currently offer our members.
- Newsletter
You can look forward to receiving at least three informative and fun to read newsletters each year. Our newsletters are a way for you to get to know who works on the GSDA board, learn of upcoming CE, networking, and volunteer event's, and the newsletters provide information about legislation concerning our profession.
- CE Opportunities
GSDA plans two conferences each year at which you can earn CE credits and they are offered at an unbeatable price. We also hold regular meetings for Journal Club to discuss current research and sometimes enjoy the outdoors when weather permits. Look for emails and information on the calendar page about upcoming conferences and meetings.
- Listserv
Our listserv is private; we do not sell or distribute our members contact information to anyone. The listserv is a great place to hear about job openings, GSDA sponsored events, conferences, and a place to bounce nutrition questions or dilemmas around amongst colleagues.
- Volunteer Program
Our volunteer program consists of coordinated events that our members can participate in. In the past, members have walked in the Heart Walk, Diabetes Walk, and the Seattle Marathon. Additionally, members cooked a meal at Ronald McDonald House and participated in a build day with Habitat for Humanity. All of the events were fun and provided an excellent opportunity for dietitians to get recognized in the community and to network. Events are advertised via our newsletter and the listserv. For more information please see the link for Dietitians in Action.
- Referral List
Do you want to receive referrals? Perhaps grow a private practice? Do you need low cost marketing opportunities? The referral list can help you acquire clients. It will be a great, free way for you to advertise your specialty and practice to other dietitians and the public. It also serves as a great resource for those of us who need to refer clients on for more assistance. This is a free service for our members so there is no additional cost to be added to the referral list. The list is available for viewing by the public. If you'd like to be added to this list contact the GSDA Media Chair.
- Educational Awards
GSDA is now offering TWO educational awards of $250 each available to Registered Dietitians, Diet Techs and Certified Nutritionists to be put towards an educational experience in 2012: seminar, conference, workshop, symposium etc. Recipients will present some aspect of their experience either via an article or presentation of some kind. Applications are now available and are due December 1st.
