The GSDA provides relevant and interesting information and opportunities for both professional and personal growth. These are just some of the benefits our members enjoy:
We publish at least three informative and fun to read e-newsletters each year. Our newsletters are a way for you to get to know GSDA board members, learn about upcoming continuing education and networking opportunities, and volunteer events, legislation concerning our profession…and a recipe!
GSDA plans two conferences each year (spring and fall) at which you can earn CE credits and they are offered at an unbeatable price (especially with the members-only discount)! Other CE opportunities include cooking classes and Journal Club meetings to discuss current research (and sometimes enjoy the outdoors when weather permits).
Member Google Group (aka our listserv)
Our members-only Google Group is a great place to hear about job openings, GSDA sponsored events, conferences, and a place to bounce nutrition questions or dilemmas around amongst colleagues. We’ll invite you to join the group when you join GSDA. Note: Our Google Group is private; we do not sell or distribute our members contact information to anyone.
Networking and Social Events
The GSDA website, e-newsletters, Google group and Facebook page keep you connected and informed. We also offer opportunities to network and socialize with fellow RDNs throughout the year, at both fun events and CE events.
We offer speaking opportunities within the community are offered to our members as they arise. While we encourage businesses, groups and organizations to pay their RDN speaker (after all, our expertise is valuable), the GSDA does provide an honorarium if a group is worthy but is unable to pay.
Volunteer events provide opportunities for dietitians to get recognized in the community, to network and to have fun! Past events include walking in the Heart Walk, Diabetes Walk, and the Seattle Marathon. Additionally, members have cooked a meal at Ronald McDonald House, participated in the KCTS pledge drive, helped Habitat for Humanity.
Do you want to receive referrals? Perhaps grow a private practice? Do you need low cost marketing opportunities? The “Find a Dietitian Nutritionist” list can help potential clients find you! This free service is a great way for you to advertise your specialty and practice to other dietitians and the public. It also serves as a great resource for those of us who need to refer clients on for more assistance.
A new service that will provide a forum for GSDA members to promote their products and services to other members.
