Meet the Board: Teresa Brennan

This is the last post in our “Meet the Board” series. Each Monday, we’ve been featuring one of our 2017-18 board members. Missed some? Lucky for you, they’re in the archives!

Teresa Brennan, RDN, CD, CNSC
Speakers Bureau Chair

As the speakers bureau chair, I help connect registered dietitians to corporate and private businesses requesting a nutrition-focused speaking engagement. I have served on the board for 10 consecutive years in various positions including legislative chair, continuing education chair, president-elect and president. I am currently a consulting dietitian for Fit4Mom Eastside. Prior to that, I spent five years as a home infusion dietitian and have my Certified Nutrition Support Clinician certification. I spent more than two years with Lifelong AIDS Alliance in their clinical nutrition department and also hold an Adult Weight Management certification through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. I am a busy mom to two young boys. My husband and I enjoy spending time with our sons hiking, biking and swimming. Here’s more about me:

Favorite meal: I love a good salad. Lots of leafy greens, roasted root veggies, herbs, seeds/nuts, a delicious homemade vinaigrette and topped with a crumbled cheese. I could eat some form of this salad everyday twice a day.

Favorite form of physical activity: I enjoy working out in a small group setting and participating in HIIT with other women. My boys are stroller age and we participate in Fit4Mom Eastside Stroller Strides or Barre classes 3x’s/week. They love the classes and I enjoy getting us out for some fresh air and activity.

Favorite travel destination: Since having children, our travel looks quite a bit different. We often are headed to Eastern Washington to visit grandparents. I look forward to when the boys are a little older and can enjoy the Hawaiian Islands together.

Favorite food city: Right here at home! I love the PNW and Seattle. There are amazing chefs and restaurant concepts. I swear I’ll never have enough time to enjoy all the amazing local fare.

Favorite hobby: I love to run!

Something most people don’t know about me: I knew I wanted to be a Registered Dietitian by the time I was 16 years old. My high school had a career outreach program. I started spending two class periods each day from my junior year on working with a local dietitian. I chose my university based on their Dietetics program.
