Registered Dietitian Day is right around the corner on March 9th, and the GSDA is celebrating with a fun and informative talk on food demos for RDs!

RD Day Celebration & Cooking Demo: Cooking nutritious and delicious meals doesn’t need to be difficult! Join RD and CDCES Dana Henderson in discussing how leading cooking demonstrations can empower your patients and clients to cook with confidence and support their health goals. Sharpen your skills by attending a cook along with delicious Roasted Tomato and White Bean Stew following the presentation.

Dana Henderson is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist based in Los Angeles, California. Her primary interest is in nutrition education. In her current role as Glendale Memorial Hospital’s Outpatient Diabetes and Nutrition Program Coordinator, she leads diabetes self-management education for patients ranging from those newly diagnosed with type II diabetes to pregnant women with gestational diabetes enrolled in the California Diabetes in Pregnancy Program’s Sweet Success Program. In her previous role at VCU Health System, she worked with a myriad of patients in individual counseling as well as pioneered a range of nutrition education projects ranging from the clinic’s first Diabetes Prevention Program cohort to a COVID-19 virtual cooking demonstration webinar series. Her love for nutrition education started in the K-12 setting, wherein her first position as the sole Registered Dietitian for York County School Division she introduced programming such as Meatless Mondays, Eat the Rainbow, Rethink Your Drink, and more. She completed her undergraduate degree in biological sciences at Binghamton University and her Master’s in Nutrition at CUNY Hunter College in New York City. Outside of work, she enjoys playing with her cat named Tortellini, trying new restaurants, and hiking.
